A Magic Night with The Magic Dragon Car Show 🐉

Summer is right around the corner, and the Lake is waking up from its winter sleep. Events are popping up all over, and every weekend seems to be hopping with excitement. The Bagnell Dam Strip is no exception! There are some amazing events coming up, and we want you to be the first to know about them! In just a few weeks there is ONE MASSIVE SHOW & legendary weekend hitting the Strip, and you'll definitely want to be there. Here are all of the details about the Magic Dragon Car Show!

About the Event

This unique show is meant for all makes, models, and years of cars, trucks, and motorcycles. In 2016 this fun event at the Lake of the Ozarks celebrates its 28th year! We had phenomenal weather, about 1,000 participants, and almost 10,000 spectators! With over 25 years of show experience, you can be assured that you will enjoy yourself. The Historic Bagnell Dam Strip is the ideal location for our fun event, and we even close the strip down to normal traffic during show hours. This ensures that we only have show vehicles within the boundaries! The electric atmosphere is incredible, some even say it's like being on the set of "American Graffiti".

How Did They Get Their Name?

Have you ever looked at an aerial view of the Lake of the Ozarks? Some folks say that it looks just like a big dragon (a dragon that is over 90 miles long!). It winds its way through the Ozark hills, and several years ago the area was dubbed "The Land of the Magic Dragon." At the very first show in 1987, they used the name "Magic Dragon" and it has stuck with them ever since.

Beer Day the RIGHT Way!

In case you weren't aware - Beer Day is on April 7th! If there was ever a day worth celebrating, it's this one. Also, there' no better day for Beer Day than a Friday. After a long work week, it's time to kick back, grab a cold one (or two!) and enjoy the beverage that is so delicious. Here are a few fun facts about beer - and some insight into the delicious types we have on tap here at the best bar at the Lake of the Ozarks

Fun Facts About Beer

At any given time, around 0.7% of the world is drunk - that means about 50 million people are drunk right now!

Denosillicaphobia is the fear of an empty beer glass - do you have this fear? Come to Casablanca - we're a safe place.

The world's longest hangover lasted 4 weeks after a Scotsman consumed 60 pints of beer.

The strongest beer has a 67.5% alcohol content.

In Russia, beer was not considered an alcoholic beverage until 2013.

Did you know that in Finland, there is a championship for carrying your wife? If you win first place in the Wife Carrying Championship you win your wife's weight in beer ;).

In the land of the Pharoahs of Egypt, beer was the national currency.

In Argentina, political parties have their own brands a beer (and yes, they approved that message!)

In 1963, Alber Heineken created a beer bottle that could also be used as a brick to build sustainable housing in impoverished countries.

Did you know that as a rule of thumb, darker and bitter beers have a higher alcohol content?

If you've always wanted to swim in pools of beer, you can in Austria!

In Europe, 162,719 pints of Guinness beer are wasted each year due to mustaches - There's also a mustache tax. We loved our mustached and bearded fellows at Casablanca, and you won't get taxed for them ;).

The Best Beer at the Lake of the Ozarks

At Casagrotto we take our beer very seriously. We have over 15 craft beers on tap. These kegs of beer are kept at 28 degrees and then pumped through our glycol system which brings these flavors to your frosted glass at 24 degrees.

Fun Facts About St. Pat's to Share Over a Pint

Over 64 million Americans will be celebrating St. Patricks Day, and whether they're going to parties or coming out to their favorite bar at the Lake of the Ozarks, it's going to be a great weekend! We would love to see you, share the luck of the Irish, and even invite you to try our special Reuben pizza that is ONLY available until March 17th.

If you're planning on enjoying the evening at the bar, here are a few fun facts to share with your local leprechauns while you enjoy a pint, or two!

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, 110 million people will celebrate the day by wearing green, eating an Irish-inspired meal, or going out to celebrate.

The largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the United States, and held since 1762, is in New York City. It draws more than one million spectators each year.

In Ireland, St. Patrick's Day is a religious holiday similar to Christmas and Easter.

The very first St. Patrick's Day parade was not in Ireland. It was in Boston in 1737.

The city of Chicago is so excited about St. Patrick's Day that they dye their river green, and have been doing it since 1962! They used 45 pounds of vegetable-based die to accomplish this.

Who knew that cards for St. Patrick's day were popular?! Apparently, there are 15 million cards that are exchanged on St. Patrick's Day.

33.7 million U.S. residents who are of Irish ancestry. That number is almost nine times the population of Ireland itself.

While green is the color of the day, St. Patrick was actually known for wearing "Saint Patrick's blue." Yet green is popular because it is the color of spring, of Ireland, and of the shamrock.

Reuben pizza at Casablanca!
Because Ireland is primarily Catholic, and March 17th occurs in the midst of Lent, they named St. Patrick's Day a religious holiday so that the bars would close and beer wasn't served. They finally got "lucky" in 1961 when the holiday was introduced as a national holiday and the pubs and bars reopened!

Cabbage shipments increase by about 70% during the week of St. Patrick's Day.

The Best Beer at the Lake of the Ozarks!

If you're ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at the Lake of the Ozarks the right way - come out to Casablanca on March 17th (and all of the days leading up to it!) We always have a cold beer waiting for you, and your seat ready at the bar. The brick oven is hot and ready to make your favorite pizza pie, and the company is always fun. Come out to the Bagnell Dam Strip and find your own Irish luck - and don't forget to swap some fun facts about this fun holiday with your friends.

Celebrate World Bartender Day With Us!

Did you know that February 24th is World Bartender Day? This is a great day to celebrate the people in your life who can serve up your favorite drink, keep it filled, and always know your name ;). Here at Casablanca, we love our bartenders, and the place just wouldn't be the same without them. Here are a few fun facts alcohol, and some information about the beers we serve up on a daily basis at the best bar at the Lake of the Ozarks!

Fun Facts About Bartending

The phrase "mind your Ps & Qs" comes from bartenders. Bartenders in England would tell rowdy patrons to mind their Ps & Qs—meaning, pints and quarts. It was later shortened and used for other scenarios.

Jeremiah "Jerry" Thomas was an American bartender and is considered the "father of the American mixology." He learned how to bartend in New Haven, Connecticut before sailing for California where he worked as a bartender, gold prospector, and show manager. In 1862 he finished the book titled "How to Mix Drinks" which was the first drink book ever published in the United States.
